We are currently reading Eragon which is my pick for our bookclub! I have already read it – several times and will read it again before our meeting on Wednesday night at my house. I will be interested to see what the girls think! This is our last meeting before our Christmas windup
An Update
Posted July 6, 2009 by crayzytalesCategories: The Turning
I have been a little slack lately and skipped the last book completely! The last book was ‘The Bride Stripped Bare’ by Anonymous. The book was a look at sex in a marriage. We all agreed that it was a good book – easy to read. (The score averaged 7 out of 10) My question for the night was ‘Whose husbands got luckier than they normally would?’ And the answer was yes most of them – mine included!
Our current book is The Turning by Tim Winton. It is actually a collection of short stories. I have just started, but I am finding it an easy read, though I am not sure how the stories all interconnect yet. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 22 July.
Movie Night
Posted May 29, 2009 by crayzytalesCategories: All the Pretty Horses
We had a movie night at Nats for All the Pretty Horses. We couldn’t get her dvd player to play the dvd! Eventually her son (who is about 9 or 10 sorted it out!) I thought the movie would be really good as it starred Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz, but I was completely wrong – it was no better than the book! Very average! Oh well the chocolate was fantastic….. Our next book is The Cloning of Joanna May.
I finished it!
Posted April 28, 2009 by crayzytalesCategories: All the Pretty Horses
I actually finished this a few days ago. It took me just over 150 pages to finally get into this book – to actually start almost enjoying it! The spanish was very annoying – I wanted an english translation in brackets. The ending was a bit dissapointing – the big romance didn’t go anywhere. All in all I think 5 out of 10. It wasn’t the worst book I’d read, but it could have been better. Bookclub is tomorrow night so I will be interested to see what everyone else thinks.
All the Pretty Horses
Posted April 20, 2009 by crayzytalesCategories: All the Pretty Horses
I forgot to put in the last post the book we are reading this month. It is All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy, which I must say I am not even half way through. This book isn’t large (302 pages) but I am finding it very slow going and the fact that he doesn’t put his speech in quotation marks is annoying and sometimes confusing! Hopefully some of you girls are further along than me given that our next meeting is a week on Wednesday!!! Let me know your thoughts…….
And well done narelle on coming up with this… this is why you are the bookclub mafia boss afterall , cos you are clever.

I finally finished the book but I think 600 pages is my limit to how much I can read in the book. I loved the guys writing. It was arty farty wihtout being hard to understand.
Our Wednesday Meeting
Posted April 20, 2009 by crayzytalesCategories: The Book Thief
Last night was our usual monthly meeting night and what a great night it was. It was Claires book so she hosted and I think we were the only ones who had finished the book! And we even discussed some of the book (highly unusual!). I think everyone agreed that it was a good book though the first chapter made it hard to get into – once you were past that it was easy. We actually forgot to rate the book (we normally give the books a rating out of 10). I would give it a 7. (This post was written on the 2 April, but due to my Pop passing I have only just got around to finishing the post)
Invitations and New Header
Posted March 26, 2009 by crayzytalesCategories: Life
Very excited – what I couldn’t figure out how to do the other day is now done!!! We have our Christmas photo as our header!!! Everyone looks fantastic except for me. I was deaf in one ear and suffering from sinusitis – not fun. I have also sent an invitation to all our entire bookclub to join me on this blog. I look forward to seeing you (or rather hearing from you) bookclub girls soon.
Hello world!

Yes indeed. I have done it. I have created a blog address for our bookclub (now I just have to do one for myself!) Well I have finished our book for the month ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak and I quite liked it. The first chapter was difficult to get through, but after that it was all good. It doesn’t matter how many times you read about the Nazi thing it still amazes me that one person started the whole thing. Sometimes I don’t think we realise how lucky we really are…..
